Yes, it's true! I'm a REAL MOM of four who loves to prepare home cooked meals for my family but now has little time to do so with our very busy schedules. Possibly, like many of you! Our "Frugal Family Recipes... What's for Dinner?" blog is open for all of our readers who want to cook at home but often struggle with that dreaded question that comes up sometime between 4:00-7:00pm; "What's for Dinner Tonight?!" We have featured hundreds of wonderful frugal recipes on our Web site at BetterBudgeting.com and in my cookbook, Frugal Family Recipes. Now we're gathering here at our recipe blog throughout the month and sharing great DINNER ideas to help you stretch your dollars and cut your grocery budget in half! We'll also continue to discuss how to make our favorite restaurant meals and packaged foods at home in order to SAVE MONEY and share our favorite new recipes that are CHEAP, QUICK and EASY to make... as we have been doing since 2001! We would be so delighted if you and your friends would JOIN US TODAY!!!

Final Note of Thanks

Thank you all for visiting with my mom here at her blog, she loved writing this and unfortunately became too tired to write shortly after she started. In January of 07 she was diagnosed with colon cancer and a week later the dr.'s discovered it had spread to her liver and on February 2 she went on to be with our father in heaven. We miss her terribly and I'm not sure if I will ever be able to continue her work here or on our AllSugar-Free.com web site. However, we will keep all the archived recipes available for you through our main site, BlueRidgePublishing.com. If anyone sees this message, thank you for visiting with us today, mom would be so glad to see you! :o)

We love you mom!!!

Happy Father's Day

Well wishes to all the dads! Hope you have a great day! The sun is shinning in NC and it is a beautiful day to celebrate all the wonderful dads who work so hard to provide for their families. May you have a relaxed day and enjoy your family, friends and just enjoy being alive! Just a note about food. You can have anything you want today, if you will just eat half what you would normally be served in a restaurant. (Most restaurants serve huge quantities of food so take home a box of leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. While you eat your leftovers you will be reminded of the great day you had today! ) God Bless and Enjoy!

Add Exercise To Your Life!

I've been told that exercise can lower your blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, and help you reduce weight! Well, how come we are not all walking everyday? Let's get going and encourage each other to do it! If you have a friend who needs to walk everyday or four times a week at least, invite them to take a long walk with you today! And keep asking them to go with you. Some of us need that extra push. It doesn't have to be a fast walk either. My doctor told me once that if I would just walk everyday for one half hour no matter how slow I had to walk at first, I would increase my pace as I was able and in time be able to walk at least an hour everyday.

He said it would increase my heart rate and thus make me healthier and allow me to breathe better too, not to mention allow me to lose weight easier. It was great advice. I started slowly and began to gradually increase the amount of time and speed I walked everyday. I felt better and breathed better and lost weight. Somehow, over a period of time I stopped. My life was in a whirl wind and it was too hard to continue. But doesn't that happen to many of us? We let our busy lives get in the way of making heathy choices for ourselves.

So let's begin anew and start walking everyday! Have a great week! God bless each and every one of you!

Happy Mother's Day!

May 13, 2006

Hope everyone has had a good week! I have! My daughter did the most amazing thing for me for Mother's Day ever. She came over while I was at work Friday with a friend and cleaned my whole house as a Mother's Day suprise. When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. She is a most amazing daughter. She works so hard and cares so much for her family and friends! She is beautiful, loving and gracious all in one. Have a wonderful Mother's Day Michelle!

Love, Mom

AllSugar-Free Tips and More Blog

May 7, 2006

Thought it would be great to start a blog for our website. Battling diabeties in any form whether it be type 2 or pre-diabeties or gestational diabeties is a difficult process. I thought we could help and encourage each other by being in contact. I am new at this so sharing recipes, helpful hints, tips, discoveries and information pertaining to the issue would certainly be helpful to me.

I was just diagnosed with type 2 in January 2006. I had been pre-diabeties for a long time and had gestational diabeties when I was pregnant, all though the doctors back then (over 40 years ago) did not tell me that. They just said not to eat a lot of sugar. I have always had difficulty with sugary foods for breakfast, even as a child. I discoverd many years ago, eons actually, that I could not eat anything sweet for breakfast without fainting and/or getting dizzy. At an early age, I had to either skip breakfast all together or eat eggs and toast, no jelly. I usually chose to skip breakfast growing up. Now I need to learn to eat small meals through out the day. It seems to work best for my current condition.

If you have any ideas for small meals throughout the day and evening, please let me know. I work a full time job as well as write the newsletter for AllSugar-Free.com so I am very busy and it is hard to plan what I am going to eat. You can email me anytime.

Wish you the best in your battle! Have a great week! Keep a positive outlook and never give up on yourself!
